Excerpt

John’s decision to come to the turnpike station first had Cole’s fangs edging out. “We should go to the scene, to confirm—” He couldn’t finish the thought. Without his blood inside Mia, he couldn’t be sure, and his entire body was conflicted with doubt. His jaw tightened, and the tip of his fangs poked at the inside of his lip. Removing his clip from his belt, he flicked his thumb underneath the first bullet and ejected it from the clip into his palm. He closed his eyes as the silver burned its shape into his flesh and eased the glow he felt creeping into his eyes. Taking a calming breath, he slid the bullet into his pocket and reattached the clip to his belt.
“Stay calm,” John said, as they walked through the doors to the turnpike substation. Cole responded in a low growl that put John on alert, making his jaw muscle tick.
A young man leaning back in his chair with his feet propped on the table looked up from a set of monitors. “Can I help you?”
“Do you get pictures from the road cameras?” John asked.
Naw, that’s illegal. The whole Big Brother” argument. We only monitor them. We get an alert from the radar units on the other poles when a vehicle’s speed registers too low or high and then we check the monitors for trouble.” He smacked his gum with an open mouth chew and turned his attention to Cole as he walked behind the counter. “Sir, you can’t come back here,” he said.
“Are these today’s turnpike tickets?” Cole asked, his jaw set in a tight line.
“You can’t just come back here…”
“Answer the question.”
“I-I’m going to have to ask you to leave.” The young man stammered as he reached toward the phone. Cole’s hand covered his, quickly replacing the phone in its cradle.
“We’re going to have a problem if you don’t answer my question,” Cole said, filling in the space between them. He leveled an assertive gaze at the man.
“Barnett. Back off,” John commanded.
“You-you need some type of warrant or authority to come back here.”
Cole ignored the man and grabbed the tin box from the counter. Pulling out a stack of tickets, he held them to his nose. With a frustrated growl, he threw the stack down and grabbed more from the box. With each stack, he grew more agitated. Picking up the fifth stack, he paused as a familiar scent reached his nose. He breathed deeper and tore through the tickets to pull out the one with Mia’s aroma. It was faint, but it was her scent.
“I need the license plate and the photo of the driver this came from.” Cole held out the ticket to man.
“I can’t do that. I need permission and—”
“Now!”
“Sir, you don’t have the authority…”
Cole snatched his badge from his belt and slammed it on the table in front of the man. “How’s this? No?” Arching a brow at the man’s hesitation his gun followed, slamming down with the same force as the badge. “How about this?”
The man locked into Cole’s deadly gaze. When his eyes widened, Cole knew it was from the glow that had started to appear from behind his irises.
“Still not enough authority for you? How about this!” Cole’s fangs jetted out like a switchblade.
“Holy shit! What kind of cops are you?”

Cover reveal!! For Luca by Soraya Naomi

SYNOPSIS

Betrayal is difficult to overcome when the trust is gone.
Luca did everything for Fallon. But as the underboss of the Chicago Syndicate, he has an entire organization depending on him, and she is a weakness he can no longer afford.
When Fallon’s life continues to unravel, she will need Luca more than ever, but can she move beyond all the lies and deceit?
The pull of love still ties them together, but their secrets have driven them apart. Even after everything that’s happened, Fallon owns Luca’s heart, but the Chicago Syndicate owns his life.
How can he be with the woman he loves yet still remain loyal to an organization that lives by its own rules, above any law? It’s a choice he can’t afford to make, and when nothing is as it seems, the ultimate decision may mean life or death for Luca.
A romantic suspense.

EXCERPT

That evening, James and Salvatore – my Consigliere - meet Adriano and me at my penthouse where the doctor stitches us up and provides us with some pain medicine.
As we stand around my black granite-top kitchen island, I look at their weary faces.
James starts. “Any ideas who did this?”
Adriano answers as he twists his golden lighter between his fingers, “Leggia maybe? We should check with Biagio,”
“I’ll set up a meet with Biagio,” Salvatore offers while sliding onto the barstool.
James looks me in the eye. “I don’t like this. This is the first time our headquarters has been targeted. It could’ve been Leggia’s doing, but I have my doubts.”
“So do I,” I agree.
“I want you two to get some rest for a couple of days,” James orders and points to Adriano and me. “And we don’t meet in public for a couple of weeks. Capito?” Understand?
We nod and part. Everyone back to their own life.
James will be welcomed by his wife, Alessa. Salvatore’s Julia waits for him. Adriano will be happy with a whore. And I’m alone. Without her.

As much as I want to, I can’t refrain from reaching out, so I text and call her a few times during the weekend, but not one word from Fallon.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

I was born in South America in 1984 and raised in Europe where I presently reside with my fiancé.

I read many genres but favor intense, dark, seductive, and provocative novels where the male character loves fiercely, without remorse or boundaries. I also adore forbidden love tales and have an odd fascination with kidnapping romances. No, I don't secretly want to be kidnapped, though!

I have a passionate obsession with the written word and indulge in chocolate pastries much too often.

My debut novel, For Fallon (Chicago Syndicate, #1), was released on July 26, 2014. I’m honored that For Fallon won “Best Breakout Novel 2014” in the Novel Grounds Semi Annual Literary Awards.

Lost in the Beat Review

Rhythm is the heart of every song.

Jase Collins lives for the stage and the perks of rock stardom. His wild antics and high-profile affairs have earned the sexy drummer the title of Hot Wired’s bad boy. He’s not quite as jaded as his fans think—but just jaded enough not to recognize the best thing that’s ever happened to him until she walks out of his life. And he doesn’t even know her name.

But without harmony a man is lost.

Fallon Morgan has had her life mapped out since high school. She’s earned a full ride scholarship to UCLA with the driving goal of earning her doctorate. Nothing can derail her dreams—except maybe a one-night stand with the infamous Jase Collins. His chilly reception the morning after convinces her to put her biggest mistake in the past and move on without looking back.

When two hearts begin to beat as one…
When Fallon’s life takes a dramatic turn, she finds herself with no one else to turn to for help. Jase is obnoxious, demanding, and yet surprisingly tender. Though it chafes her to depend on him, the more time she spends with him changes her perceptions of the bad boy rocker. With each passing day she finds more and more faith in the man behind the public persona. If she can learn to trust her feelings, she might be willing to risk her heart.

They could find themselves Lost in the Beat!

My review:

By the time I finished reading the first book in this series I was a die hard Hot Wired groupie. These boys are smoking!
Jase and Fallon's story is just as amazing as Fang and Sam's, maybe even more so.  I loved seeing Jase's hidden side.  The man had me melting. lol  Fallon was a force to be reckoned with as the leding lady.  I loved her stubborness and how she wanted so badly to do things on her own.
Author Gracen Miller has an amazing talent for making readers go through emotional roller coasters that leave you begging for more.
I'll be waiting impatiently for the next book in the series. I can't wait to find who the next book is about!

Every cell in Fallon’s body wanted to rebel on principal. Like the good girl she was, she succumbed to Jase’s demands. “Do you ever not get what you want?”
“Yeah.” He stepped right into her personal space, knocking his very naked chest against her breasts.
The way her nipples protruded upon contact, they might as well have been naked against his flesh. The simultaneous dampness in her panties unnerved her. Damn her traitorous body! She ignored the pulsing between her thighs and coerced her libido to focus on him and not her body’s yearnings.
He lifted his hand and wrapped his fingers around her ponytail. A slow, gentle pull on her hair and he notched her head back. “Twice last year I didn’t get what I wanted.” He sounded put out by the inconvenience.
Proof he lives a charmed life! That was as good as always getting his way in her valuation. She’d endured many more disappointments than that in the past year.
His sapphire-blue eyes looked black in the dim lighting. “Care to know what those two were?”
If she said no, then he’d suspect she predicted those disappointments centered on her.
“I’ll take your silence as a yes. Number one…I didn’t want Sam and Fang together.” Surprised, her eyes widened at his confession. The tabloids would pay good money for that juicy tidbit. “Didn’t think they were right for one another. Gave them a lot of hell for that.” He shrugged. “My accident—you heard about that, right?” At her nod, he went on. “It reminded me how short life is, so I gave them my blessing to be together.”
Fallon licked her lips, suspecting his sister hadn’t really needed his blessing to do what she wanted. “It was the right thing to do.”
A humorous glint sparkled in his eyes. “I’m not known for doing the right thing, darlin’. Like now.”
She frowned. “What do you mean?”
He adjusted his hand, sliding it along her ponytail, before burying his fingers into the coil of her strands beneath the snug grip of the rubber band. His other arm curled around her shoulders, drawing her tight against his frame. Her heart pounded in her ears, and he smelled good.
Jase nipped her bottom lip and at her sharp gasp, he took advantage and slid his tongue into her mouth. The cool minty taste of him verified he’d taken the time to brush his teeth.
Her eyelids fluttered shut, and she groaned upon his first contact, a slow drag of his tongue against hers. The immediate surge of wetness that drenched her panties scandalized her.
Her eyelids snapped open, and she spied him watching her. Fine lines creased the corners of his eyes. Again and again his tongue caressed hers, reminding her how he’d licked her breasts and between her legs.
More moisture dampened her panties, and her passage clenched in need. She compressed her thighs, but that action caused her ache to grow instead of abate as she’d intended. He withdrew from her mouth, and she almost botched stifling her groan of disappointment. Awed by the effect Jase asserted over her body, she stared at his lips. She’d lost all sense of restraint when he’d put them on her.
Just like the first time.
“You were the second thing I wanted last year.” He removed his arm from her shoulders and ran his thumb along her jaw. “I had private investigators search for you, but they repeatedly came up empty-handed.”
Stunned by the admission, she wasn’t sure what to make of it or if she even believed him. “Why’d you have P.I.’s looking for me?”
“Because you’re the one that got away.”
Jase looked serious. He didn’t flinch away from her direct stare. Didn’t grin, didn’t even blink. But the idea that she was ‘the one that got away’ was ludicrous…Fallon snorted, calling bullshit. She bet he said that to every woman he wanted to screw. While he could have his pick of women, she was a convenient lay.
I am no one’s dupe.
“This chick isn’t stupid enough to believe that line.”
A flash of hurt pinched his features. His mouth parted as if he’d say something, but he settled for shaking his head and dragging his fingers through his hair.
Their sultry spell demolished, she watched him, refusing to allow herself to regret her callous honesty. He could have any woman he wanted, but she wasn’t for sale.
Jase released his hold on her and picked up the keys and cell she’d dropped on the floor. He placed them on the counter and met her gaze dead-on. “You’re obviously not as intelligent as I thought you were either.”
